Career Services

It can be called Career Services, Internship and Placement Services, Job Placement Services, or the Job Resource Center.

A quick sampling of Web sites reveals that services provided include resume development and critiques, job search strategies, internship information, career exploration, job search correspondence and individualized career advice.

These services are made available to students through instructor help, Career Advisers, partnerships with a local branch of Workforce Oklahoma, local jobs posted online or a link to OKCIS.

What Career Services is your technology center providing beyond an entry on your website?

• Do you provide job listings on your Web site?
  
• When was the last career fair held on your campus for students and graduates?

• Can they get a sheet of resume paper from your Career Services office?
  
• If someone called today, what facilities could they use to conduct on-campus interviews of your students?

• How are you developing your students' soft skills?
  

How is your technology center providing Career Services? Is there a strong relationship between the Academic Adviser, Career Adviser and College Transition Specialist? Are all three services being provided by the same position? Do they work together to provide a student a seamless transition from recruitment to college and career?

As we prepare students for a tough economy, we must give them every opportunity to succeed! Part of preparing them has to include the needed skills to successfully navigate the employment world.
